At Goletas, ensuring the privacy of our Web site visitors is of utmost concern. This privacy statement explains data collection and use practices of the Goletas Web site, www.goletas.com (the "Site"); it does not apply to other online or offline Goletas sites, products or services. By accessing the Site, you are consenting to the information collection and use practices described in this privacy statement.
Collection of Your Personal Information
We will ask you when we need information that personally identifies you ("personal information") or allows us to contact you to provide a service or carry out a transaction that you have requested such as receiving information about Goletas products and services, entering a contest, ordering e-mail newsletters, joining a limited-access premium site or service, signing up for an event or training, or when purchasing, downloading and/or registering Goletas products. The personal information we collect may include your name, title, company or organization name, work e-mail, work phone, work and/or home address, information about your job function, information about your company and credit card.
If you choose not to register or provide personal information, you can still visit most areas of the Site; however, you will not have access to areas that require personal identification.
Personal information that you post to online newsgroups, chats or other public forums is accessible by other participants. In order to avoid your e-mail address or other personal information from being gathered and used by others for inappropriate or harmful purposes, Goletas advises that you should be cautious about posting a real e-mail address or other personal information to such locations.
The Site may collect certain information about your visit, such as the name of the Internet service provider and the Internet Protocol (IP) address through which you access the Internet, the date and time you access the Site, the pages that you access while at the Site and the Internet address of the Web site from which you linked directly to our Site. This information is used to help improve, analyze trends and administer the Site.
The Site may contain links to other sites at which personal information is collected. In such instances, unless expressly provided to the contrary, the collection and use of your personal information will be governed by the privacy policy applicable to that site. That privacy policy should identify the entity that is collecting your personal information.
Protection of Children's Personal Information
The Site is a general audience site and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
Membership and the Use of Log Files
Goletas offers free membership to all our Site visitors. In order to establish membership, visitors are requested to provide both personal information and preferences. This information is stored and protected by your user-established Member ID and Password.
There is an additional "Remember Me" option. By selecting it, you allow the Site to store your Member ID and Password so you can access certain areas of the website without re-signing in. The sign-in information is stored until you explicitly sign out or your session expires. It also allows you to return to any members only part of the Site on subsequent visits without having to re-enter your credentials. The Site remembers you by placing a log file ("cookie") that contains only enough information to identify you upon return visits. A cookie is a small line of text that is stored with your web browser for record-keeping purposes and helps Goletas provide better service to you.
You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the Site.
No information, other than that found in the Membership cookie, will be accessed by any Goletas system. Access to your membership information always requires both your Member ID and Password.
Goletas also utilizes visitor log files and hosted tracking with the Site. Once a user enters our Site, a cookie follows them through their click stream path. Examples of information being collected by these cookies and the hosted tracking include the number of times a user came to the Site, and the paths they took to get there. Goletas uses the data collected from website visitor cookies and hosted tracking in aggregate form only and does not collect any personally identifiable information. Use of this information helps us better understand what users are seeking and learning at our Site and helps us identify potential navigation issues.
We also gauge effectiveness of our communications by inserting transparent GIF images known as Web beacons - sometimes called single-pixel gifs - that allow the Site to count users who have visited those pages and to deliver co-branded services. The Site may include Web beacons in promotional e-mail messages or newsletters in order to determine whether messages have been opened and acted upon.
Some of these Web beacons may be placed by third party service providers to help determine the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns or e-mail communications. These Web beacons may be used by these service providers to place a persistent cookie on your computer. Doing this allows the service provider to recognize your computer each time you visit certain pages or e-mails and compile anonymous information in relation to those page views. Goletas prohibits Web beacons from being used to collect or access your personal information.
Control of Your Personal Information
Goletas recognizes and appreciates the importance of responsible use of information collected on the Site. Except as otherwise described in this statement, personal information you provide on the Site will not be shared outside of Goletas and its controlled subsidiaries and affiliates without your permission. Please be aware that this privacy statement and any choices you make on the Site will not necessarily apply to personal information you may have provided to Goletas in the context of other, separately operated, Goletas products or services.
Goletas may send out periodic e-mails informing you of technical service or security issues related to a product or service you requested, or confirming you requested a product or service. In some services offered by Goletas, contact with the customer is an intrinsic part of the service. You will not be able to choose to unsubscribe to these mailings, as they are considered an essential part of the service(s) you have chosen.
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, there are instances in which Goletas may divulge your personal information. Goletas may provide your personal information, if necessary in Goletas' good faith judgment, to comply with laws or regulations of a governmental or regulatory body, or in response to a valid subpoena, warrant or order, or to protect the rights of Goletas or others.
How to Update Your Personal Information and Preferences
You can help Goletas maintain the accuracy of your personal information by notifying us when you change your name, address, title, phone number, e-mail address or your content preferences. If at any time you wish to update your information or preferences, or you prefer to stop receiving communication from Goletas, feel free to contact us at any time.
If you change your e-mail or postal address, please let us know. In order to make the appropriate corrections, please include both your old and new address. We will respond to your request in a reasonable timeframe.
Security of Your Personal Information
We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to safeguard the confidentiality of your personally identifiable information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
Changes to This Statement
We may occasionally update this privacy statement. When we do, we will also revise the "Revised" date at the top of the privacy statement. For material changes to this privacy statement, we will notify you either by placing a prominent notice on the home page of our Web site or by directly sending you a notification. We encourage you to periodically review this privacy statement to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect.
